Innovations in Aging Collaborative Presents “Remarkable Aging Series: Specialized Healthcare & Caregiving for Older Adults”

Innovations in Aging Collaborative (IIAC) has received funding from the City of Colorado Springs to address the major issues that are facing Baby Boomers aging in the community and new retirees moving into Colorado Springs. For October IIAC is discussing “Specialized Healthcare & Caregiving for Older Adults.” Community members and prospective residents, organizations and businesses are invited to attend. Individual tickets are $30 and include beverages and a continental breakfast. More details will be posted on the website closer to the date of the event. Raisin’ Cane Walk-a-Thon

Location: Mini Walk-a-Thon Downtown Denver
Join us for a fun and illuminating mini walk-a-thon through the streets of Downtown Denver culminating in a super “Happy Hour” celebration. Sighted participants will be blindfolded and will negotiate the 7 block jaunt starting at the historic West steps of the State Capitol building with the use of a white cane and sighted guide. Ask your friends, family, neighbors, work mates, to pledge their support to ACBCO and qualify for great prizes. In addition, local artists will compete for prizes in the great Raisin’ Cane Tactile Art Contest. Details & Registration will be available online when we are closer to the event. The Arapahoe County Council on Aging (ACCOA) is composed of a group of seniors and  representatives of government agencies, service providers and senior organizations. ACCOA Meetings are held on the 4th Monday of each month (with the exception being Memorial day when it is held on the 3rd Monday and there is generally no meeting in December). Regular meetings are from 1:00PM-2:30PM at Caley Ridge Assisted Living located at 9350 E Caley Ave, Englewood. Join us as industry minded professionals gather to discuss senior issues including but not limited to transportation, housing, abuse and neglect and much more.
