Upcoming Southwest Coalition on Aging Networking Meetings
February 28, 2012 - Tuesday, 9:30 - 11:30AM
Location: RiverPointe Senior Community of Littleton - Website
Address: 5225 South Prince Street, Littleton, CO 80123-7772

Speaker: Laura Hansen, Assist 2 Hear - 720-210-9653 - lhansen@assist2hear.com
Speaker Topic: Hearing loss affects over 36 million Americans (nearly 20%). Learn about how hearing loss affects individuals, their families and friends. Hearing loss cannot be cured but there are ways to improve hearing and the well-being of the hard of hearing. Topics will include information about hearing loss, ADA compliance for hearing access in businesses and public venues and a review of ways to improve hearing in all settings. Bring your questions – and hearing aids if you have them!
Speaker Bio: Observing family members and friends struggle with hearing loss issues, even though they have hearing aids, prompted Laura Hansen to research and promote Assistive Listening Devices and Induction Loop Systems to help improve the quality of life for those with hearing impairments. Having worked in the Senior Care industry, Laura has seen many seniors isolate themselves because they cannot hear in social settings and are unaware of available products to help in these settings.
Assist 2 Hear's mission is to help educate the general public and individuals with hearing loss about available options to improve hearing in their own home as well as public venues and social settings. We're committed to making improvements to public and private meeting places to help them conform to ADA guidelines for those with hearing disabilities, and to promoting Induction Loop technology in both residential and commercial settings throughout Colorado and the entire country. In our environment that is becoming increasingly noisy, hearing protection is a huge concern. We want to educate people and provide products to help prevent hearing loss.
