Colorado Initiative Kicks Off First Ever “Conversations on Aging” Regional Tour
Location: Fort Morgan, Morgan Community College

As part of its continued effort to prepare the state for the nearly 68 percent increase of people more than 65 years old by 2030, the State’s Strategic Action Planning Group on Aging (SAPGA) will begin a series of meetings across the state to gather input from local residents responding to, and building on, the Planning Group’s Initial Strategic Action Plan on Aging for Colorado, released this past November. The meetings are open to the public, with a special invitation extended to older adults, caregivers, service providers, elected officials and advocates who work with seniors. The Planning Group seeks opinions, suggestions and guidance on issues facing our aging public that it can use to support local initiatives that improve the lives of seniors in the area.

The one day conference offers educational sessions with specialized tracks designed to highlight relevant topics for Caregivers (both family and direct care professionals).

Businesses serving older adults need an understanding of the older consumer and the adaptations in product functions, service design, marketing and ethical considerations that are necessary for success. The Business of Aging VIA Sessions will provide opportunities for attendees to interact with subject matter experts, coaches and other participants to explore and analyze their own businesses through the lens of our changing age demographic. Participants will be encouraged to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies needed for decision making, problem-solving and imagination that are most valued in today’s successful aging enterprises. Attendees will review their own businesses, identify areas for improvement, develop specific objectives and incorporate new opportunities. Bessie’s Hope Bowl-a-Rama Benefit
Location: Event is being held at 3 Different Locations in the greater Denver Area
Plan to attend Bessie’s Hope Bowl-a-Rama Benefit for at-risk youth and nursing home residents. The event is on Sat, Nov 4th and there are 3 locations to choose from. Check-in and pizza is from 12:30 to 1:10 and bowling and awards is from 1:30 to 3:30. There is a minimum of $40 to participate which includes pizza, 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental and goodie bag. All bowlers, except sponsored teams are required to bring donation bingo form to check-in or create an online fundraising page. Colorado Senior Lobby Citizen Lobbyist Training at the State Capitol
Location: The Colorado State Capitol

Our Colorado Senior Lobby Citizen Lobbyist Training is “non-partisan citizen lobbyist training” for someone who wants to influence policy and not just discuss policy. The event is at the State Capitol (enter on the south side) from 10AM to Noon with networking starting in the morning at 9AM. For networking at 9:00AM, meet in the cafeteria in the basement of The Capitol. You can purchase refreshments and network. Before our Citizen Lobbyist Training starts at 10:00AM, you can explore the Capitol. The training will take place on the 3rd floor in Senate Committee Room 352, 3rd Floor. Bring a notebook to take notes at the training and a capped water bottle. Water can also be purchased in the cafeteria. We will have handouts for the Citizen Lobbyist Training session.
