Tax Help in Colorado
Share this announcement with seniors and others in need. Free tax preparation assistance resources are available to families who earned less than about $55,000 in 2016. Called “Tax Help Colorado” – these are free tax preparation sites typically open from January through the tax filing deadline, and the days and hours of operation vary by site. Most sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis. These services are offered through The Piton Foundation. You can also dial 2-1-1 to find a free tax preparation site.

Denver Senior Coalitions Joint Coalition Meeting Organized by the NORTHWEST Chapter

This is the Joint meeting of the Denver Senior Coalitions’ Chapters. The four Chapters come together in one large meeting. If you have not renewed your membership or joined for 2017, either bring your application and check to the meeting or join online. Newcomers are welcome to attend one meeting and then are encouraged to join. If you are attending bring a piece of literature and business cards to share. Light breakfast refreshments and beverages are provided by our host.
Update on March 7, 2017 on the March Speaker:
An update on the Speaker: Jennifer Hanzlick of Clutter Trucker was our scheduled speaker but has come down with the flu. The replacement speaker is Jim Riesberg, the current Chair of the Colorado Strategic Action Planning Group on Aging (SAPGA). Jim will be sharing information about SAPGA with our group.
About Jim Riesberg: Jim Riesberg and his wife of 52 years, Sharron, both Colorado natives, have two children and five grand-children. Jim has been active in local, state, and national organizations focusing on housing, hunger, health and aging issues. He earned his MA in Gerontology from the University of Northern Colorado. He served as a State Representative, District 50, (2005-2011) and Colorado Insurance Commissioner (2011-2013). Jim Riesberg is currently Chair of the Colorado Strategic Action Planning Group on Aging (SAPGA) and he will be talking about SAPGA. Learn more about SAPGA from the group’s website.

This is the monthly meeting of the Arapahoe County Council on Aging (ACCOA). ACCOA advocates, identify needs and educates seniors and families about aging resources. People attending ACCOA meetings at the Caley Assisted Living facility are not to park in the Vet’s paved parking lot and are to use either the Caley Ridge parking lot, the graveled/rocked vet parking lot, or the parking lot next door at Boston Commons as long as it is NOT the covered parking.
