CircleTalk Leader Course
Location: Highlands Ranch Substation

CircleTalk is a conversation-based program, bringing meaningful engagement in any setting where older adults gather. Each group (8-12 people) is facilitated by a trained CircleTalk leader who uses a carefully crafted (and field-tested) curriculum to guide focused activities and discussion. CircleTalk is designed to build a sense of belonging and connection to others and alleviate feelings of isolation and loneliness. The CircleTalk Leader Course is a full-day training, providing professionals and volunteers in the field the skills and tools to facilitate these conversation groups. The class is $450 per person. Adult Mental Health First Aid Module 3
Location: Mental Health Center of Denver

Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course that teaches you how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps you identify, understand, and respond to signs of addictions and mental illnesses. The course trains participants to help people who may be experiencing a mental health problem or crisis. You learn:
Risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems.
Information on depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and addiction disorders.
A 5-step action plan to help someone developing a mental health problem or in crisis.
Where to turn for help — professional, peer, and self-help resources.
Boomers Leading Change pays your $20 registration fee which covers training, the Mental Health First Aid Manual, and snacks. There will be a one hour lunch break. Lunch is not provided.

Join fellow Denver Senior Coalition members at the annual Holiday Party on Thursday, Dec 13th. Ralston Creek Neighborhood is hosting our event this year and their Chef is preparing some delicious nibbles and liquid refreshments. The event is an open house style from 1:30PM to 4:00PM, with a 2:00PM announcement about the 2018 awardees of the Joint Coalition Assistance Fund (JCAF). We have invited our JCAF Awardees to attend and accept their awards. Be sure to attend to celebrate what the Denver Senior Coalitions has accomplished with your membership dues. The Joint Coalition Assistance Fund would not be possible without your membership dues.

This monthly meeting is usually held on the 4th Monday of every month with holiday exceptions. There are no dues required and this is a great opportunity for industry minded professionals to gather to discuss the needs of seniors in our county and the services available to them. Please bring your brochures, flyers and announcements. The January meeting is a free luncheon meeting at Caley Ridge from 12:00PM -1:30PM. Everyone is invited.

Senior Day at the Capitol 2019
Location: Scottish Rite Masonic Center

Be a sponsor or just plan to attend the 2019 Senior Day at the Capitol. For 2019 the entire event will be in the Scottish Rite Masonic Center located across the street the State Capitol. Why the change? The Old Supreme Court Chambers, where we usually hold the morning session is scheduled for remodeling in 2019. We are holding both the morning and afternoon session in the Scottish Rite Masonic Center. This architectural gem of Denver was built in 1925 for the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Our main event will be in the domed auditorium with great acoustics and wonderful architectural detail.
